One of America’s most beloved artists, Saul Steinberg is best known for his work with The New Yorker, a collaboration that spanned more than six decades and created more than 90 covers and 1,200 drawings.
A trained architect, Steinberg described drawing as ‘a way of reasoning on paper’ and was often referred to as an ‘inspector’; committed to unveiling pretence but always retaining a darkly comic sensibility.
