This weekend we continued our fascination with the 18th century with a trip to Houghton Revisited. The magnificent art collection of Sir Robert Walpole, Britain’s first prime minister, was sold to Catherine the Great to adorn the walls of the Hermitage. With masterpieces by Van Dyck, Rubens and Rembrandt, it’s a unique opportunity to visit one of the 18th century’s most famous art collections in beautiful Palladian surroundings.

Houghton Revisited runs from 17 May – 29 September at Houghton Hall.
